Für dieses Projekt experimentieren Nicole Six und Paul Petritsch mit all den Dingen, die sich in ihrem Besitz befinden: Gegenstände, die entweder für den Alltag notwendig oder Resultat ihrer Arbeit sind, auch wenn sie unnütz erscheinen. Zahnbürsten, Bücher, Computer, Betten, Tische, Stühle, Kleidung, Autos, aber auch Wohnungsschlüssel, Kontokarten oder Reisepässe werden in den Räumlichkeiten des Kunstverein Medienturm zu einem Gesamtvolumen geschichtet. Ihre ursprüngliche Funktion wird aufgehoben, sie werden in einem Bestandsverzeichnis gelistet und in skulpturaler Form öffentlich gemacht. Durch das Aufnehmen des Bestands, den Transfer und die performative Neuordnung wird die Medialität der Dinge erkennbar. Ein begleitendes Künstlerbuch dokumentiert konzeptuell konsequent nicht die Installation in Graz, sondern die nun leeren Wohn- und Arbeitsräume der Künstler/innen und all die Dinge, die sich über die Ausstellungsdauer nach und nach wieder ansammeln. Das Künstlerbuch erscheint im Verlag für Moderne Kunst, Nürnberg.

9. Shanghai Biennale 1. Oktober 2012

Erstmals seit der Gründung 1996 wird die Shanghai Biennale nicht mehr im Stadtzentrum stattfinden. „By moving from the historic Horse Racing Club to the power supplier of China´s industrialization, the Shanghai Biennale will turn a new page,“ zitiert die Zeitung China Daily den Präsident der China Academy of Art und Board-Direktor der Biennale, Xu Jian.

The Bronx Museum of the Arts has just announced that New York-based sculptor and installation artist Sarah Sze will represent the United States at the 2013 Venice Biennale. She was selected for the coveted commission by Bronx Museum executive director Holly Block and independent curator Carey Lovelace.

Titled “Triple Point,” Sze’s installation will engage the architecture of William Adams Delano and Chester Holmes Aldrich’s 1930s pavilion in the Giardini, modifying and distorting it without actually changing it in any way, in the museum’s description. Sze will craft complex and delicate installations from her trademark accumulations of everyday materials, discarded objects and kinetic devices like electrical fans.
